About event
The Irish writer and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature (1923), William Butler Yeats, wrote the poem Down by the Salley Gardens (first published in 1889), which later became the basis for a song of the same name and also a play.
Sally - Salley here is a corruption of the Latin word Salix - willow.
We play well-known and forgotten ballads and melodies from the British Isles and occasionally to the folk motifs of Northern Europe.
Welcome to the willow garden...
The concert is supported by the Prague 4 district.
