About event
For 25 long years, it was just a secret dream of a little television freak. At the same time, no one suspected anything when journalist Monika Benešová really started planning and working hard to make it come true a few years ago. Years of preparation, battles with an incurable disease, hard training, falling to the bottom and digging back into life, all this should lead to one coveted peak - the highest of all. After a huge struggle in the Himalayas, where she finally climbed two more peaks, Monika fortunately did not give up and this year she fulfilled her dream - on 21 May 2024 she stood on the top of Mount Everest. How did she do it? What did she have to go through during her journey? And why did she decide to go to the Himalayas on her own? Come to Bia Oko to listen to Monika's breathtaking talk about sweat, tears and the hard-to-imagine happiness of success.
Monika Benešová
Moravanda, lover of drowned people and liquor. A journalist who is neither a traveler nor a climber. She is simply a woman who makes her dreams come true. She likes to say that in 2019 she wrote a book about poop that became a bestseller: My Pacific Crest. Despite the fact that she is terminally ill, she does not give up. After all, that's why her motto is: Above all, don't screw yourself up.
