About event
DAMU is the place where it all started...
On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, this year we are joining the celebrations.
16. and November 17, 2024, we invite you to the program that we have prepared in cooperation with Freedom Week. The event will thematically touch on freedom, democracy, intergenerational clashes, the fragility of the young generation, demonstration, belonging and other similar topics that are as relevant today as they were 35 years ago. You can look forward to 2 graduate productions at ds DISK, a panel discussion moderated by Pavle Tomášek, editor-in-chief of Deník N, or projects by current DAMU students.

Debates on social problems, writing articles and many meetings in pubs... Although thirty-five years separate us from the events of 1989, student life at that time was in many ways similar to today's. Viewers of the interactive audiowalk will find themselves at the beginning of the academic year 1989/1990, and will have the opportunity to decide how they themselves will be involved in the university environment. Along with this, he will learn more about the activities behind the turning point of the November 17th manifestation. Documentary fiction is built around historical sources and testimonies.

How to build a home away from home? what happens when memories are wounded by the unresolved past of a country far away from Prague?. This performance is an invitation to a shared moment of intimacy in the middle of the city, to experience part of the biographical songbook of my family and the recent history of my country.
Author: Pedro Gramegna Ardiles< br/>
🔸15:00, classroom K332: I will come out of the forest, take the spine out of my back and have it instead of a sword. Stage reading. 🔸
Keep silent even though you need to speak. Filling out a form you didn't choose. Submitting to the wishes of others. "Because you're a woman. Because you can irritate the air with the fact of your existence." And because you live in an unfree country. A play by contemporary Belarusian playwright Alena Ivanušenka, in which patriarchy overlaps with totalitarianism and in which women can finally speak.
