About event
Dear friends, we invite you to the last accompanying program to the already finished Ride the Snake He's Old and His Skin is Cold exhibition at the Vanek house.
Architecture theorist Šárka Svobodová from Brno will guide us in her lecture through the history of the house of Imrich and Olga Vanek, its planned and realized form. It will touch on the contexts of studio houses as a phenomenon that has its representatives not only in Bratislava. After this lecture, the house will be closed again for almost a year and will be opened to the public and the artistic community only after the completion of the complex reconstruction it is currently undergoing.

studio of the Vanek house
Hlavná 25, Bratislava
Entrance to the event is free.
The house with the studio of the Slovak sculptor and ceramicist Imrich Vanek and his wife Olga on the hillside of Koliba in Bratislava was unknown to the general public until now. Imrich Vanek adapted the original design from the Slovak architect Štefan Svetek and built the so-called self-help. Already at the time of its completion in 1985, however, the building exceeded the purpose of mere housing and sculpture studio. It was conceived as a place for public meetings and an art salon. This role began to be fulfilled especially at the beginning of the 90s of the last century, and the house was gradually equipped with a number of author's realizations by Imrich Vanek until it became a specific private museum. After the death of Mr. and Mrs. Vanek, thanks to the efforts of their family and friends, the house is being transformed and looking for a new role as a residence that would make the artistic and architectural values of the house accessible to the general public, but at the same time preserve the function of living.

Special thanks of the organizers to the heirs of Imrich Vanek's estate for their long-term support for the idea of transforming the Vanek house into a new artistic, publicly accessible place in Bratislava.
The location does not have parking capacities. We recommend using public transport - trolleybus no. 44 direction Koliba. Get off at the Čremchová stop and walk about 50m to the entrance to the Vanek house (address Hlavná 25). Thank you for your understanding.
