About event
Lost somewhere between the mysterious alleys of 70s Istanbul, the scorching sun and the crystal blue sea of Jaffa, Tel Aviv, Şatellites' self-titled debut album will be released on Batov Records on April 1st. 💽
Satellite's sound oscillates between traditional Turkish folk and instrumentation, ethereal psychedelic guitars and groovy bass lines calibrated for the dance floor. The result is a concoction of songs that draws on continental influences, but at its core is a desire to illuminate the vivid qualities of classical Turkish music, honoring the Anatolian folk and psychedelic artists of this golden age. 🎸
From the disco-funk of Disko Arabesque to the celestial lead guitar of Yağmur Yağar Taş Üstüne, the band adds fire and sparkle to traditional pieces of Turkish music, giving them new meanings . Covering important tracks such as Olurmu Dersin by singer Kamuran Akkor and Yekte by musician and guitarist Zafer Dilek. The album covers an array of original tracks from different musical styles and sounds, which once and still continue to spring out of Turkey. 🎶
