Scenes of a Folk Life: Dutch Farmer Songs

Agathe Ensemble presents Scenes of A Folk Life, a program full of folk music from the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. Originally written for piano, these works have been arranged by the musicians for strings and will be part of Agathe's second studio album, which will be published in 2026.

about the program:
When the young pianist and composer Julius Röntgen moved to the Netherlands in 1877. Just like his good friend Edvard Grieg and his partner Amanda Maier, he found a special source of stories in Volksmelodies - music that connects generations and radiates a timeless beauty.

“Folk melodies have survived, formed, formed by people, and wearing our stories, joy and dragged with them for centuries.” - Edvard Grieg
