**Swearing at the adult education center? - Pseudoscience and esotericism in adult education**

The topic of esoteric courses at German adult education centers is regularly in the press and people point the finger at sometimes actually absurd topics - but what is really behind the recurring complaint about astrology and homeopathy courses at the vhs? And what are the interest groups doing with regard to quality assurance? In her lecture, Stephanie Dreyfürst reports, among other things, on secretly attended swearing courses and the reactions to her initiative against "swearing in the vhs".

**Dr. Stephanie Dreyfürst**, who has a doctorate in German and is director of vhs Wiesbaden e.V., is a founding member of Skeptix and, in addition to her editorial work, is primarily involved in “swear-free adult education”.

**Format**
The edutainment format "Skeptics in the Pub" originally comes from the UK and combines entertaining scientific lectures with discussion and socializing in a relaxed atmosphere.

For several years there have also been regular series of events in German-speaking countries, including in Cologne, Vienna and now also in Berlin.
