At the next ScienceCafé, we will welcome the winners of the ESET awards in 2023 in the Young Scientist category, Mateja Baláža, who describes his lecture on mechanochemistry as follows:
Have you ever thought of doing chemical experiments "dry", i.e. without the use of solvents and use a grinder for it? We think about it every day, it's even our job. We are dedicated to mechanochemistry, where mechanical energy capable of working wonders is supplied to ground powder. Although this branch of science has its roots in the past, it has only recently begun to develop rapidly in the Western world. In the presentation, you will see what can be done with the help of mechanochemistry and, using the example of waste processing or the preparation of nanomaterials, you will understand why this scientific field has enormous potential in the field of natural and material sciences.
