In November the young Irish band SEARCH RESULTS are coming to Berlin for the first time and are presenting their debut album “Go Mutant”. With influences from the Modern Lovers to 80s punk and psychedelic rock to the 60s beat from England, every song sounds somehow different, very refreshing and non-conformist live. Kindred spirits with the Parquet Courts, only with a singing Keith Moon on the drums.
---
Fritz Ali Hansen's dark new wave and post-punk sound seems surprisingly contemporary at the moment - even though it is deeply rooted in the sounds of the 80s. Perhaps it is due to the world situation, which is reminiscent of the tense atmosphere of the Cold War. Or maybe it's simply the unbroken appeal of these sounds, which have lost none of their intensity even after decades and radiate an almost timeless urgency.
With his distinctive mix of melodic bass lines, cool drum computers and cutting electric guitars, Hansen quotes the icons of the genre. But unlike many of his contemporaries, he manages to bring this sound into the present with precision and stylistic confidence. He takes the dark gothic aesthetic of bands like The Sisters of Mercy and transforms it into something that sounds at once familiar and surprisingly new. Anyone who longs for the raw energy of post-punk and the dark magic of new wave will definitely find it here...
