The deadline for applications is 3.3.2025. The eight -week seminar starts in the week from 10.3.2025.

** Do you care about the world to make the world better? 🌍 Do you want to contribute to this and are looking for ways to do it best? ** Effective altruism is trying to find the most effective ways to use our resources (time, energy and money) to improve the world. Not all charity activities have the same impact and some may be more effective than others.

How to think about efficiency in these efforts? Which projects can have a particularly significant positive effect on the world? In spring and autumn we regularly organize an eight -week seminar, where we use scientific approach, rationality and current professional analysis to answer these questions. We have prepared a seminar according to the tested [program] (https://www.effectivealtruism.org/virtual-programs/introductory-program) from prestigious universities (Stanford, Oxford, etc.).

** 💡 What will you learn? **
We are not saying that we have all the answers, but the seminar will give you documents for your own considerations and discussions about how you can have the greatest positive impact on the world. For example, we will discuss these questions:

*Which ** problems ** seem to be the most pressing ** and deserve the most attention?
*How to compare and evaluate their priority ** according to the importance, solvability and neglect?
** Which charity is currently the most effective ** in the world and with your potential gifts can have the biggest positive impact?
*How do we deceive us ** when trying to compare individual opportunities? Why do we tend to underestimate the difference between saving 100 and 1000 lives?
*How to combine efficiency and compassion ** and find a meaningful and satisfactory path for yourself?
*Why some known and popular projects actually do not work **? How to know which solutions have a ** real impact **?
*How to decide between ** improvement or rescue ** lives of different people?
*What are ** existential risks ** for humanity and why can these risks be the most important thing to do?

### ** 🎓 How is the seminar going? **

You will read texts from different sources in English every week. Preparation takes about 3 hours a week.

You will be divided into smaller groups of 3 to 6 people who will meet once a week for an hourly discussion, where you will discuss the read texts for the week. The discussion itself takes place in Czech.

The discussion will help you understand and organize your thoughts and also get to know interesting and inspiring people who have the same interest in charity and efficiency. You get space for questioning and clarifying your moral values.

The discussion will be moderated by an experienced facilitator that helps to care for the quality of the discussion and ensures a safe and stimulating environment.

** ⏳ When? ** Meeting begins in week 10. - 16 March. The deadline for applications is on Monday, March 3. In the week after the deadline, specific regular meetings will be arranged according to the time possibilities of the participants in the individual groups. The meeting will be 8 - one week one.

** 🗺️ Where? ** The meeting will take place in person in Prague or Brno, or online. (Personal meetings may be in another city if a group of interested parties meet here.)

The seminar is followed by a weekendovka, which graduates can optionally participate. This is a great opportunity to get acquainted with participants in other groups and other people from the Czech Republic who are interested in topics discussed in the seminar.
