Discussions and lectures

About event

We will end the cycle of lectures this year in style, right in paradise. However, it will not be the well-known Slovak paradise, but we will fly even further towards the east. Within sight of Vihorlat, there is an area of Senianske rybník, which can be called a "bird's paradise" in Slovakia, as it is one of the most important ornithological locations in Central Europe, and it has acquired an international character due to its scientific and conservation importance.

Is it possible to combine economically used ponds with nature and bird protection? How is the landscape changing here thanks to SOS/BirdLife Slovakia? Is "bird paradise" really only about birds and what future awaits it? Why is the return of the white krakle such a success?

You will be able to find out the answers to these questions and certainly many other interesting things on 09.12.2024 (Monday) at 18:00 at the Juraj Fándly Library in Trnava from by Matej Repel.

He is the co-author of many professional publications and studies. He is loyal to eastern Slovakia, where he worked in the state nature conservation and later started working for SOS/BirdLife Slovakia as a coordinator of conservation projects, ornithologist, head of the Slovak ringing headquarters and SOS/BirdLife Slovakia branch in Senno, while since 2024 he is the director of SOS/BirdLife Slovakia .
