About event
The Russian formation Shortparis was founded in 2011 in Saint Petersburg. With their experimental rave punk and provocative performances, the band follows in the footsteps of composer Sergey Kuryokhin. The band initially expressed itself in no fewer than three languages: in addition to Russian, also French and English. In doing so, they transcended cultures and their music became emotionally tangible for different listeners. The quintet courageously resists the mainstream and breaks through the usual formats of sound and stage actions. It is not without reason that they proved themselves during Le Guess Who? 2019 as one of the most exciting shows of that edition.
In 2025, the band dares to call their sound mature and even accessible. And for years, Shortparis has been subtly speaking out against the Kremlin and the invasion of Ukraine. The group sees continuing to perform (also in their home country) as the way to create unity among communities. After a sold-out show in 2022, we look forward to their return this fall!
