About event
We invite fans of ceramics and Japan to a presentation.
It will take place on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. in Dome Vanek / atelier section, Hlavná 25, Bratislava
The presentation of current resident Simona Janišová, halfway through her creative stay at Dome Vanek, will focus on current events in the important ceramics region of Shigaraki in Japan, where the author spent 5 weeks at the beginning of autumn 2025 in the residential center Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural park.
It will be such a travel-artistic format, with presentation, discussion and samples of works. There will also be an opportunity to see works in progress, on which the author is working in Imrich Vanek's studio, which, 10 years after the author's death, is coming to life again with his work.
Simona will also talk about what she saw in Japan, but also did not get to see, what she experienced and who she (didn't) meet. She will talk about local ceramic production, its connection to everyday life in Japan, but also about the international ceramic art scene, which has been meeting in Shigaraki since the 90s.
You are welcome!
The author's residence in the Vanek House is part of the annual program of Banská St anice, which was supported from public funds by the Art Support Fund.
Special thanks of the organizers go to the heirs of the estate. Imrich Vanek for their long-term support of the idea of transforming the Vanek House into a new artistic place accessible to the public in Bratislava.
The location does not have parking capacity, so please use public transport (trolley bus no. 44, direction Koliba, stop Čremchová). Thank you for your understanding.
We look forward to seeing you!
