About event

40 years after the comeback tour “Private Dancer”: The celebrated homage to rock legend Tina Turner with leading actress Coco Fletcher is going on a big tour again!

The “Private Dancer Tour” in 1985 was Tina Turner’s first Solo tour after divorcing her drug addict and violent husband Ike Turner. The tour for their 5th studio album with 180 shows worldwide is considered the starting signal for their rocket-like rise, which went down as the biggest comeback in music history. 40 years after the start of her incomparable solo career, “Simply The Best – The Tina Turner Story” honors the unique life's work of the most important artist of the last decades. Most recently, the successful production caused quite a stir in the wake of a long legal dispute over the portrait of the leading actress and the world's best Tina doppelganger, Dorothea “Coco” Fletcher, and gained international prominence and recognition thanks to the final judgment. The show has already thrilled hundreds of thousands of visitors and will go on another major tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 2025.

A highlight among the musical biographies and a must for all Tina Turner fans who want to experience the eventful life of the exceptional artist with all her big hits up close and live: “Simply The Best – Die Tina Turner Story” describes the life of the exceptional artist with lots of live music and impressive scenes and takes the audience on a journey through five decades of music history: from initial successes, the failure of a great love and finally, after the separation, Tina's sensational solo career to the film music of “James Bond 007 – Goldeneye” in the mid-90s.

With the “Private Dancer Tour” from difficult circumstances to a steep solo career

Anna Mae Bullock , born on November 26, 1939 in Brownsville, Tennessee (USA), grew up in Nutbush and died on May 24, 2023 in her adopted home of Küsnacht near Zurich (Switzerland), became a global star and legend as Tina Turner. From 1958 she performed alongside her future husband Ike Turner. On the night of the separation and the private abyss, her first solo tour for the album “Private Dancer” in 1985 was the outstanding comeback as a solo artist. Their legendary performance in Rio de Janeiro in 1988 in front of more than 180,000 spectators even earned an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. The singer with the unmistakable timbre went on a world tour for the last time in 2009. This tour was the great conclusion to an extraordinary career with over 180 million records sold, countless number 1 hits and chart positions such as “Simply The Best”, “Private Dancer” and “We Don’t Need Another Hero”. Even after her death, Tina Turner remains an unbeatable role model for strength and courage.

The successful production “Simply The Best” is a homage to the rock icon who shaped half a century of rock history and brings the unique Tina Turner sound live to the stage once again . The gripping and emotional musical biography was named “Best Musical Tribute Show” at the Reel Awards ceremony in Las Vegas at the beginning of 2020 and pays tribute to an outstanding and unique personality.

The world's best Tina doppelganger : Dorothea “Coco” Fletcher as Tina Turner

“Tina Turner's performances differed significantly from performances by other artists. “I have always been fascinated by her incredible energy and stage presence,” says Tina Turner actress Coco Fletcher. Inspired by the exceptional artist, she manages to imitate her idol perfectly. Coco's performance is visually and vocally astonishingly close to the original, making her rightly considered the best Tina doppelganger worldwide. There can hardly be a greater compliment for Coco Fletcher than the fact that the rock icon herself was of the opinion that she was too similar to her in a past legal dispute. With the special timbre in her voice and the energetic show, Coco Fletcher brings the “Queen of Rock” back to the stage and inspires the audience together with the excellent ensemble of live band, singers and dancers.

Fletcher, who grew up in Alabama/USA, celebrated her first successes in Las Vegas: There she performed with soul greats such as The Platters and Bobby Womack and successfully sang in shows such as “American Superstars”. Since September 1997 she has been part of the original cast of the “Stars in Concert” ensemble. Since 2004 she has appeared regularly on stage with Udo Jürgens and in 2005 she sang a duet with Jermaine Jackson (Jackson Five). Coco Fletcher became known in Germany and Switzerland after Pepe Lienhard hired her for his live tours and TV appearances. She also gave goosebumps on “Let’s Dance” 1 & 2 (RTL) and sang on “42. Montreux Jazz Festival” for Quincy Jones.
