Duration approx. 70 Minutes

In “basis for being نرگس”, the audience is invited to a house party in Tehran in 1991 and at the same time to a choreographic exploration of the self. Among the guests are the child, the degenerate and the dancer. The three characters take the audience on a journey through different states that form basis for being: Are you more the guest who observes or the one who participates in the dance? ‘Narges’ is a Persian female name, an allusion to the eyes of the beloved and the word for the flower narcissus.

Saberi’s poetic work combines traditional and contemporary elements of Iranian dance and tells an almost unnoticed story of his own empowerment. For his choreographic process of remembering, he studied moving images of a past that is no longer personal, or present.

➡️ Sina Saberi (او) is an Iranian performer, choreographer, and cultural manager. He studied Literature in Tehran and then began working in the Performing Arts. He is the Artistic Director of Kakeshan, an initiative that promotes the Iranian dance scene. His previous works have been shown at Fajr International Festival in Tehran, Rencontres Chorégraphiques in Paris, Kampnagel in Hamburg, and Charleroi danse in Brussels, among others.
