About event
Premiered 200 years ago, the Choral Symphony is one of the most influential human creations of contemporary times. With an unprecedented formal complexity, an orchestration that broke horizons, such a boldness in the face of current artistic and ideological premises, it became grandiose – truly monumental. Interestingly, the final movement questioned the very concept of a symphony, by adding four solo voices and a choir to the orchestra. It is there that you hear the famous Hymn to Joy, a free adaptation of Schiller's poem that exalts the values of freedom and fraternity among Men.
