Discussions and lectures

About event

Fresh Fruit cordially invites you to lectures and discussions within the SINGULARCH project – a series of informal meetings with young and high-quality architecture. Lectures and discussions that present unique practices and projects from local and foreign studios - www.singularch.sk.

In the background of the rapidly developing in the digital and technological field of architecture, a parallel develops at the same time. The form by which the young generation takes a new direction in workshops, from student studios and workshops, through their own practice. A new generation of architects, representing their approach in a precise craft format. Exploring and physically grasping architecture in one's own hands in the workshop. In the organic knowledge of materiality, understanding of tools and forms of their use in the process of creating space-creating elements, the practices that we invited to the next SINGULARCH cycle also develop.

On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, we will meet the founder of the Danish studio Archival Studies in the legendary Káceček's favorite place. For the "workshop" format of the SINGULARCH series, the workshop HAUS, located in Banská Štiavnica, accepted an invitation from the local sphere of skilled craftsmen. In the next installment of the SINGULARCH lecture series, we will be introduced to a very the unique Copenhagen studio Archival Studies. Their practice, founded by Jo Qian, Yuan-Chieh Yang and Emil Roman Frøge in 2018, freshly represents the rare approach of organic work with materiality based on workshop craft.

"As the name suggests, we start each process with understanding already existing. We do this in order to "design as little as possible" and let the patterns of life regulate the forms of our work. We begin each project by first understanding the qualities of the client, space or situation we are working with, with the ambition to help places feel truly alive.”

Practice Archival Studies explores interior architecture for transformation and care o existing ones. They actively aim for diverse collaborations by applying regenerative concepts, flexible building systems and sensory-rich environments.

"Our potential lies in the focus on craftsmanship and production. We try to inspire new standards for materials and shape the current definition of architecture by solving many challenges that our planet faces today."

< br/>⚫ Workshop HAUS | Miro Šestina, Matúš Šestina - https://dielnahaus.sk

For the next "workshop" format of the SINGULARCH cycle, they accepted from the local spheres of skilled craftsmen invitation workshop HAUS. Located in Banská Štiavnica, it acts as a carpentry and carpentry platform, which is also an integral part of an architectural studio. The founders are Tomáš Ružiak, Matúš Šestina, Miro Šestina and Eva Šestina.

“Our principle is to create true, intelligent and contemporary architecture. We prefer elementary materials and follow the latest trends in technology and design. We are dedicated to original projects and like to participate in architectural competitions. We will prepare the architectural assignment from the design to the implementation project. We can realize our interior designs in our carpentry workshop."

The carpentry workshop located in Banská Štiavnica has already realized a number of great buildings. Their sense of detail and creative approach to the realization of designs from drawings not only of their own studio, but also of partner architectural studios leads to unique results of working with wood and other traditional materials. Thanks to their continuous and precise architectural and carpentry work, the Haus workshop was nominated in projects such as Shelter on Červená Studna (CE ZA AR 20, ARCH 20), Buda - community center (CE ZA AR 22). The cells of Jelšava in the open Kaštiela Coburgovcov (in cooperation with 2021 and Čierne Diery) became laureates of the CE ZA AR 22 - Phenomenon of Architecture and at the same time received a nomination for the prestigious EU Mies van der Rohe Award 2024.
