About event
The commented walk will present the urban development of Dejvice and reveal the stories of architects and buildings that formed this district. What are Dejvice different from the rest of Prague and why did Rondocubism get caught here? The territory among the old Bubenčí and Dejvice was one of the most valuable free areas in close proximity to the center. The architectural competition for the regulatory plan was won by Professor Antonín Engel and the newly set land began to fill with buildings quickly. At the same time, a new architectural style is spreading through Prague: Rondocubism, so it is no coincidence that colored facades full of semicircles, cylinders and folk ornaments appear more often in Dejvice than anywhere else in Prague.
