Slam poetry (in the English original poetry slam, from the English slam – bang, crack) is a performative genre of author's poetry, in which poets perform spoken poetry in front of an audience. Culturally, slam poetry breaks with the earlier image of poetry as an elitist or rigid art form. Although formats can vary, slams are often loud and lively, with audience participation, cheering and dramatic display.
Poetry Slam was created in Chicago in 1986, when the first slam competition was held, the aim of which was to transfer poetry recitals from academic soil to a wider audience. American poet Marc Smith, originally a bricklayer by profession, is considered the founder of the genre. He believed that the poetry scene at the time was "too structured and stale", so he began to experiment - attending open mic poetry readings and then turning them into slams by introducing an element of competition.
When evaluating the slam, attention is paid to the content as well as the form and presentation. Poets can compete as individuals or in teams. The evaluation is usually done by a jury, which is usually chosen from the audience, at other times the winner is determined by the moderator only depending on the applause of the audience. the mascot of the genre, Uncle Jedlička of Czech slam poetry) the most poetic from the western borderlands, made in Holostřeva!)
GARCON (a quick butcher who was unlearned by slam poetry!)
