🌸 Lucia is a shy sixteen-year-old girl who grows up under the watchful eye of her mother. The Catholic choir she joins is supposed to contribute to her good and honorable education. During a summer retreat in the picturesque backdrop of an Italian monastery, however, her paths cross with the sparkling Ana-Maria and a dark-eyed restorer.
🌿 Nature is in full bloom, the scent of blooming roses wafts through the air, and Lucia discovers a hitherto unknown language of her own body, which is in direct conflict with church chastity and her naively pure faith. Are the grapes of our sins really so sour even when we break free from ancient values and listen to ourselves?
🎬 Urška Djukić's debut feature can remind us of Céline Sciamma's films with its faded imagery, her sensual and imaginative style, in which Christian symbolism blends with pure physicality, but reveals a unique vision of the world and one of the greatest promises of young European film.
🎞️ The award-winning short film The Stone of Destiny, an animated musical directed by Julie Černá, which made its way into the extremely prestigious short film competition at the Berlinale last year, will also be part of the premiere evening.
