November 17 - The Day of Fight for Freedom and Democracy
This day bears the legacy of those who have stood up to freedom - students, citizens and courageous people who risked everything in 1989 to live in a free country.
This is the day when we commemorate the price of democracy and the courage of those who have defied totalitarianism.
Today, however, we must be alert! And we are! The government is trying - as with September 1 - to prepare us at 17 November as a public holiday. This step weakens its symbolic power and only makes it a "normal day". But 17. November must not be a normal day!
It is a lively reminder that freedom must be defended whenever it is at risk - even if it is threatened by those who swear to the institute. Neither in pieces nor under the pretext of economic measures.
