Slováci ožijú. Hymna pre 21. storočie

The world and in it Slovakia are going through huge changes; we oscillate between strengthening international ties and regressive and isolationist tendencies. Symbols of national pride are emptied and serve as a universal argument for various ideological movements.

What do we want to be proud of as inhabitants of Slovakia?

What motivates us, what encourages us to positive goals?

What did "our Slovakia" fall asleep and what exactly does it mean when "Slovaks come alive"?

We approached three Slovak directors (Dragun, Rázusová, Vollmann) with an assignment to respond to a fictitious (visionary?) role the search for a new anthem of the Slovak Republic. The goal of three separate, original artistic reactions is to find a tone, discourse, or optics through which we can confront the current challenges we face as a Slovak, Central European, post-socialist, small-town (…) society.
