About event
Already on 17 November, on the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy, the Slovak Cultural Torch Humenné - City of Culture 2024 will be lit. Join the relay protest, carry light with us in dark times when we must stick together in culture.
🔥 We will meet at 17:00 in front of the Vihorlat Library, from where we will walk with the torch past the cultural institutions in the city. A traveling book will also be available, in which you can write down your wishes for culture in the new year.
❗Together we demand:
➤ Professional and competent management of the department of culture and stopping the purposeful destruction of the sector by its of the current leadership
➤ Immediate cessation of ideologically motivated censorship with economic impacts, which are implemented through a department-controlled grant support system
➤ Immediate financial stabilization of the sector with an emphasis on improving the evaluation and working conditions of people working across the spectrum of established and non-established organizations
🌟 Follow the route of the Slovak Cultural Torch on our social networks and join the relay in your city.
🤝 We stick together!
