About event
Civic protest activity The Slovak Cultural Torch in Banská Bystrica will start at 2:00 p.m. on the SNP square, near the Plague Column, with a march with a lit torch as a symbol that culture in all of Slovakia holds together. It is also a protest that articulates the demands of the Cultural Strike.
We will talk with you about the current problems of culture in Slovakia. At the same time, you will be able to write your wish for culture in 2025 in the traveling chronicle.
❗We jointly demand:
➤ Professional and competent management of the department of culture and stopping the purposeful destruction of the sector by its current management
➤ Immediate cessation of ideologically motivated censorship with economic impacts, which is implemented through a department-dominated grant support system
➤Immediate financial stabilization of the sector with an emphasis on improving the evaluation and working conditions of people working across the spectrum of established and non-established organizations
🌟 Follow the route of the Slovak Cultural Torch on our social networks and join the relay in your city.
