About event
An experiential workshop full of dance in African rhythm! Come welcome the Winter SLU-NOV-RA-T! Ecstatic dance to the drums, a trance part with a dance dive into the dark with a scarf or a mask on the eyes and at the end relaxation during music therapy with soft tones.
It is a spontaneous dance without set rules and choreography. What you are discovering is the movement and rhythm within you, the "inner dancer". The intention is not to repeat over and over the steps that have already been created and be just someone's copy, but to create right now your own original movement that expresses an authentic current emotion.
In the evening, therapist and lecturer Asha Re with roots in West African Ghana & the Czech Republic (full name Linda Asha Commodore), Daniel Nekonečný's dancer from 2003 to 2019, accompanies and plays accompanying instruments.
Senegalese drummer Faly Faye plays the drums. He was born into a family of respected griots. Griots (French name, in Senegal they are called jali) are poets, authors of memoirs of West Africa. Griots were musicians who played the kora, balafon or ngoni and helped the king and the people to communicate and reconcile with each other by having the griot play one of their instruments and sing along with it. They assisted at baptisms and weddings. The words of the griot were very important in their time and are still important today for those who understand them.
LOG IN:
in SMS to phone 723 641 782 or by e-mail at [email protected] (write your name or the name of someone who is coming with you and in the subject of the message SUNNY AFROTANCÍRNA). After registration, details for participating in the event will be sent by e-mail. Book your place in time, this time there is only room for 15 people in the hall.
VENUE:
Sál Place 4 People, Vlkova 539/7, Prague 3
PROGRAMME:
We start with an introductory introduction to the content of the evening and its rules ( e.g. with the fact that when the dance begins, we no longer speak and express ourselves through movement and facial expressions, possibly sound), connecting to the ancestors, setting a group vision and individual intentions for the following dance.
This is followed by a sound massage in a circle with a shamanic drum, warm-up and relaxation of the physical body. We will relax the neck area with breath and sound.
During the 1st part of the evening, you will enjoy the joy of free dancing barefoot without predetermined rules and choreography, alone, in pairs, in a group, but you can also connect with your ancestors during the ritual and immerse yourself into the world inside yourself with a scarf or mask over your eyes.
In the 2nd part of the evening, you will dive into the depth of yourself while dancing by covering your eyes with a mask or scarf. When the eyes are covered, the attention is directed inward, instead of focusing on the world outside, on what is invisible to the eyes.
Nothing is an obligation, you are free to do only what you feel. You can dance, but also just stand, lie down and sit, alternating freely according to the feeling. If you are coming for the first time and it is unusual for you to have a mask on your eyes, you can take it off and put it on in the 2nd part, I just warn you that the dance will have a different effect for you.
After the final relaxation to the sound of carillons and other soft instruments, we will end the event by sharing together in a circle.
Dance is for everyone who can move, so don't think about whether you "can" or "can't" dance. It's like wondering if you can breathe or not. As African wisdom says: "When you can talk, you can sing. When you can walk, you can dance". - when paying 18.12.-19.12. and CZK 1,111 when paying on the spot
✔️Children 12-17 years old have a discount of CZK 333;
Important - take the children with you only if they really want to go with you and you as parents feel the same way.
CZK 100 from each of your payments will be sent to the contribution of the "Nightingale" project for the Salvation Army, which provides those in our society who need it: a warm overnight stay, soup with pastry and a hot drink, the opportunity to perform personal hygiene, medical examination and treatment in the doctor's office, an appointment with a social worker to help them solve their life situation and the opportunity to continue with the Salvation Army service system on the way up from darkness to the sun.
Asha Re and Faly Faye are looking forward to seeing you!
