About event
We invite you to the mini-festival of independent theater, which is created as a gesture of support for creators who were not supported by the Art Support Fund in the 2025/2026 season - despite the recommendation of the expert committee. Join us and support specific independent theater in Slovakia.
The fragile and at the same time intellectually stimulating multi-layered composition Outcast by the independent theater group Slzy Janko Borodáč, awarded with the prestigious DOSKY 2025 prize in the category Best production and direction of the 2024/2025 season, draws the viewer into an uncompromising space of ideological battles. Physical theater as a mapping of memory and presence - as if not only the force of the argument, but also the weight of history is breaking between two bodies. In it, Gabriela Marcinková and Anna Jakab Rakovská create a vibrant diary of contemporary European women, which is created in a constant dialogue between personal experiences and the legacy of Stefan Zweig.
Stefan Zweig's memoir The World of Yesterday - a portrait of old Europe marked by the upheavals of the early 20th century, here enters into a dialogue with the author's statements, personal memories, parental dilemmas, inner struggles and everyday life. the reality of today's European women, actresses, mothers. The production will also include recordings on LP records, on which the personal authentic statements of the actress Anna Jakab Rakovská are recorded on a telephone dictaphone from the period 2021-2022, when she was going through clinical depression.
Gabriela Marcinková and Anna Jakab Rakovská give exceptionally complex acting performances - their physical intensity, precise work with the body and the ability to move from the poetic plane to cruel openness form the core of the production. Movement stylization also plays an important role - the actresses almost constantly move from one physical tension to another. They run, exercise, dance, but their physical fatigue is only a fraction of the psychological exhaustion that takes place under the surface.
Outcast reveals the processes of social isolation and exclusion, failing memory, pressure zones between private and public, between the female gaze and universal experience. It opens fundamental and uncomfortable questions: Who has the power to determine who is an "outcast" - socially pushed to the edge? And what will be left when we stop perceiving the signals that history repeats?

Slzy Janko Borodáč is an independent theater group operating in Prešov, founded in 2020 by director Júlia Rázusová and theater manager Linda Durkáčová. It combines physical theatre, documentary principles and an intense, often autobiographical statement. Their work is uncompromising and at the same time accessible - personal, but never egocentric; political, but not didactic. They open the topics of nationalism, radicalism, populism, ethical and moral dilemmas and the crisis of the contemporary family. They are interested in the body as a medium of memory, the voice of the individual in the pressure of social events and the boundaries beyond which art can push the public debate.
They are trying to expand the theater space in the east of Slovakia with the aim of decentralizing art in the country. In addition to theatrical work, they also study progressive acting techniques and organize acting workshops intended for professional actors and actresses.
