About event
Slovak National Theatre: Action B – talking about silence | 17/11/2024 | 19:00 | KKC Hviezda
There are few quotes that appear so intensively, which determined many of the attitudes of people after all the apocalypses of the 20th century, than Wittgenstein's paraphrase: "What cannot be spoken, must be kept silent." Sentence misused , used, distorted, used, misunderstood and often senselessly taken out of context, because Wittgenstein does not encourage not to speak, only it formulates the state of a specific experience that excludes itself with the possibility of its communicability. Action B is the name of a specific historical event (1952-1953) in which one self-privileging political party (communist), strongly inspired and actively pushed by the pattern of dealing with the class enemy applied in the 1930s in the Soviet Union, decided to rid our , Slovak "class enemies". Whether we admit it or not, it became one of the many historical injuries and wounds that scarred the soul of Slovakia in the last century. Hundreds of families (in several generations) unfairly and violently deprived of housing, work and finally their personal past, and therefore essential identity, another huge group of innocent people deprived of the ability to talk, share and communicate this appalling experience.
The original Slovak play was based on the publication of Marianna Oravcova - Akcia B by the publishing house of the Institute of National Memory.
