About event

When the fall of state socialism is spoken of ecology,
Its political subversity is emphasized. According to this narrative, ecological problems have become an important part of a revolutionary boot against an ideology based on blind faith in boundless technical progress. But these appeals to the ecological crisis would hardly hear so much if ecology has not been the motive of many favorite series, films and books that often question this faith. What did Hrabalovská poetics have in common with environmental protection? And why did the normalization DIY become a positive hero in the ecological themes? These and other questions will be answered by a lecture, which will focus on how the late-socialist popular culture coped with the conflict between socialist technooptimism and the consciousness of the ecological disaster. He graduated from history at the University of Oxford and currently works as a postdoToToToTorant at the Institute for Contemporary History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. It focuses on the cultural and intellectual history of late socialism and post -socialist transformation.
