About event

The goal of the conference is to reflect on the increased incidence of mental disorders in the period after the Covid-19 pandemic, especially the phenomenon of extreme social isolation in Japan known as hikikomori. The social deprivation caused by the pandemic has disproportionately affected children and adolescents, which is reflected in a significant increase in psychological problems. To understand the impact of social isolation on mental health, the conference is based on the findings of developmental psychology and, with regard to the unique challenges faced by the younger generation, applies a phenomenological approach influenced by authors such as Husserl, Heidegger, Patočka and Bin Kimura.
As a potential solution to the current psychiatric crisis and psychotherapeutic care in the Czech Republic, we want to present a self-help research and therapeutic model from Japan, the so-called tojisha kenkyu. Our goal is to combine tojisha kenkyu with phenomenological findings and thus offer a non-normative and destigmatizing approach to the issue of mental health. The participants of the conference will try to reveal the basic causes and conditions that contribute to the increased occurrence of psychological problems, and at the same time propose a unique
technique of self-help and self-supporting research that will find its application in psychotherapy practice.
