The traditional Estonian bagpipes meet with Ensemble for New Music Tallinn. This special and unique combination offers the opportunity to explore a new world of sound.
Normally the bagpipes are associated with traditional, diatonic music. However, you can also experience the microtonal sounds of this instrument through new works.
Program:
William Dougherty (USA) - "empty cisterns and exhausted wells" (2025)
Klaus Lang (Austria) - "corium" (2025)
Liisa Hirsch (EST) - "Chorus. Immerse. Symmetry" (2025)
Arash Yazdani (EST) - "Sharveh" (2025)
Dror Feiler (SWE) - "Excarnation Redux" (2025)
Since its founding in 2013, the Ensemble for New Music Tallinn (ENMT) has pursued the goal of bringing innovative and non-conformist music to a new generation of listeners. It is one of the leading contemporary music ensembles in the Baltic and Nordic regions and consists of a permanent group of musicians as well as an extended network of guest artists. This enables flexible and creative concert formats.
The Ensemble for New Music Tallinn is a winner of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation Ensemble Prize 2026.
