The story of The Secret Agent takes place in Brazil in 1977, about halfway through the 21-year military dictatorship (1964-1985). In a country where corruption, ignorance of the truth and indifference to suffering are all too common. Marcelo is a man in his forties, a technology expert on the run from a mysterious past. He arrives in his hometown of Recife, where the carnival is in full swing. He came to see his young son, whom he left in the care of his former in-laws after the death of his wife. He hopes to build a new life in Recife. However, whatever Marcelo does, he must be extremely alert to the danger that lurks everywhere.
Secret Agent is a mixture of neo-noir historical political thriller, drama and satire. And one of the best movies of 2025.
