Spicy Depository: Premietanie filmu Dahomey o dekolonizácii múzeí (2024, Mati Diop)

🎬 The Museum of the City of Bratislava in the new program format Spicy Depository opens the theme of the decolonization of museums. The series of events will be started by the public screening of the documentary film Dahomey. More than 130 years ago, these subjects were captured by French colonial troops and are now returning to the country of origin - Benin. Can stolen items simply go back? And what if they don't have nowhere? The screening is an invitation to think about how the colonial heritage shaped our collections, views of other cultures and the museums themselves. The exhibition approaches the stories of non -European subjects and suggests how they can be read today more sensitively. EUROPE.
