About event
The first of the Federal Thursdays of SAPMU and MUNIA:
The Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia is one of the most visited websites in the world. But what sets it apart from all the others
is the fact that it is a non-profit project made up of volunteers. Anyone can edit information in Wikipedia, and experience has shown that thousands of enthusiasts who work together and check each other can produce an encyclopedia as good as paid experts and editorial boards.
In addition, Wikipedia is part of the wider world of the so-called free culture, because the Creative Commons license allows anyone to download and further use its content. Since 2008, the association Wikimedia Czech Republic has been active here, which supports the development of Wikipedia and related projects, organizes courses and establishes partnerships with institutions.
Guest: Mgr. Marek Blahuš is a 2011 FI MU graduate, computer scientist, Esperantist and Wikipedian. He has been contributing to Wikipedia as a volunteer for 20 years. In the years 2013–2016, he worked with MU as a so-called resident Wikipedian. He is a member of the Wikimedia CR association and organizes regular meetings of Brno
wikipedists. He works as a computer linguist at Lexical Computing, which is an industrial partner of FI MU.
-------
The Association of Graduates and Friends of Masaryk University (SAPMU) and Masaryk Student Union, z. s. (MUNIE) unite their strengths and contacts to offer you a series of engaging discussion evenings.
With the support of the Department of External Relations and Marketing of MU and the Platform of MU Associations, they will invite interesting personalities, especially from the ranks of SAPMU members, alumni and friends of MU. In a short cycle of 5 lectures during the entire academic year, you will be able to listen to and then also interview experts from practice, whom you would probably not have access to otherwise. The lectures are open to students and graduates of all faculties, we recommend that you reserve your place by returning in time!
See below: "Tickets" - of course the event is free.
You can look forward to the first Federal Thursday already on October 24, 2024 from 18:00 to 19:15 in the Great Auditorium No. 200 on Komenského nám. 2 in Brno.
