"Krosno "on the border" - a book about Krosno unlike any other
In March 2024, the book "Krosno on the border" by Grzegorz Bożek was published. The publication consists of 33 chapters and a sightseeing route leading around the city limits. The publisher of the publication is Ruthenus from Krosno.
The content of the book juxtaposes various topics, sometimes distant from each other. Some of them have been described extensively in the existing literature, some only slightly, and there are also completely new topics. "Krosno on the border" is an attempt to show the city, traces of history and modernity in a different way than before.
I wrote this book to try to record the changing landscape of the city and its immediate surroundings, and at the same time to show Krosno in a different way than the one known from popular websites or books. I hope that it can meet the expectations of both the older generation and young people and become an interesting supplement to the available literature on the history and present of Krosno - emphasizes the author of the book, Grzegorz Bożek.
The book presents the following topics:
- sightseeing – encouraging people to leave the house and take walks around Krosno and the surrounding area.
- sports – chapters on: speedway, football, cross-country skiing, ski jumps, cycling, air sports, as well as the characters of Zdzisław Deneka and Izabela Zatorska.
- historical - chapters about: Krosno September 1939, aviation school for minors, occupation and attack by the Soviets.
- literary - chapters about: Aleksander Fredro, Wincenty Pol, Maria Konopnicka, Miron Białoszewski.
- musical - chapters about: the punk concert "Rock Galicja" from 1982; the idea of ​​"do it yourself", i.e. the music of the 90s; Krosno music scene.
- Jewish - chapters about: the ghetto in Krosno; the fate of Alexander White - a survivor of Schindler's List, a Jewish cemetery.
- nature - chapters about: Wisłok, wolves, birds, forests, meadows, and the end of winter.
- the book also contains chapters about: Ignacy Łukasiewicz ; Władysław Gomułka; the German club LSV Beskiden; floods, fires and plague.
The special addition that opens the book is an over 47-kilometer long sightseeing route, leading around the city's border or in the immediate vicinity of the border, which presents various places on the outskirts of Krosno, describing historical events, hills, and chapels. , watercourses, vegetation, presenting literary, historical, sports and natural curiosities. It contains over 80 topics that have not been described in detail in individual chapters.

The publication has 416 B5 pages, contains over 190 contemporary and historical photos, graphics, reproductions of postcards, and a map of the sightseeing route.
