About event
We cordially invite you to the Blanické rytíř stage for the 35th anniversary of the intervention on Národní třída, which is part of Korza Národní and you will find it in front of the Café Louvre. The program will conclude with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. and a minute of silence at 3:15 p.m. Moderated by Veronika Sedláčková.
"Blaničtí rytíři" is a project of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience and the Prague Academic Club 48. At least 600 people were injured during the attack on Národní třída on 17/11/1989. The brutality of the massacre led to the announcement of a student strike, the founding of the Civic Forum, and history took its turn. Those who took the hit on their own skin actually became the legendary Blanick knights. They appeared when the nation was at its worst and became the battering ram that brought down the communist regime.
