A lecture, which will also perform the author's new book, will focus on the origin, transformation and discontinuits of modern Czech, German and Polish tourism in the cross -border region, as a phenomenon between tourism business, nature conservation and modern nationalism. The lecture will present modern tourism as expanding from elite to a wide layer responding to technological modernization and after 1914 influenced by political transformations in the region. The context of tourism changes is the economic and demographic transformation of the region from the agrarian, through industrial, to the region focused on tourism services.
