Do you have an old book at home after your grandmother or other favorite you accidentally spilled tea? We do not just want to throw such books, even though their cover has already experienced something. Come to our workshop to revive your worn book! We will teach you step by step, how damaged boards are replaced - how to measure them correctly, create new ones and how to add the housings to connect the boards to the block. You will be able to decorate the coated records exactly according to your imagination, a clip from the original cover, free collage or other creative technique. Your favorite book will get a new coat in which you also put a piece of yourself. Revive the book that is worth you by returning it to functionality and giveing a new look that really fits it!
You are not sure what book you can bring? It is important that its block of its block is, while the boards can be detached, damaged, or perhaps completely lost. For safety reasons, please do not wear a strongly damaged book of infected microorganisms, nor books of artistic or historical value that would disappear by their bastards. Why do we workshop to us?
All the paper in our workshop comes from second hand.
In our bookbinding workshop, history meets with new technologies. During the workshops you have the opportunity to work with bookbinding machines new and those that have been several decades old. In addition to the restoration itself, this field included a lot of time spent by creating historical book ties, copies and calligraphies. She is currently a student of the bachelor's program "History of Art" at Charles University, where she focuses primarily on the architecture of the 20th century. As a restorer in the museum, in addition to the historical aspect, she is also interested in the characteristics of paper and other materials and the search for optimal ways to best keep the collection items. The book bond fascinates it primarily as a way to artistically portray a three -dimensional object and link the artistic feeling with technological knowledge and craftsmanship. It is associated with the reform not only the love of bookbinding, but also the need for sustainability, which very much appeals to it. In workshops, he sees a unique opportunity to revive the tradition of handmade paper production and arouse enthusiasm for this craft and other candidates.
