About event

Lecturer: Šebestián Bok

Most of the media present Iran as a country unsuitable for visiting. But what is it really like?

In the company of our young guide Šebestián Bok, we will drive through the beautiful province of Kordistan under the baton of the Kurds, where even for a few days Šebestián will become a teacher in language centers. At the time of his stay in Iran, the Iranian president is dying and state mourning is declared. But what was actually happening?
In Isfahan we get to an illegal party and get to know the life of students. We will visit the mythical Persepolis and the city of poets, Shiraz. In the city of Yazd, where the temperature rises to 45°C during the day, Šebestián met a great traveler from Belgium and it changed the rest of the trip a bit. In the very heart of the Iranian desert, we will cool off in canyons with waterfalls and visit ancient cities of pilgrims on the Silk Road. We will successfully, but somewhat dramatically, climb to the highest peak in the Middle East – Damavand (5670 m), after which we will spend a few days recovering in the metropolis of Tehran. In the north of the country, we look to the Caspian Sea, to rice fields, to remote mountain areas and to humid green forests.
The main thing about Iran is its people. Their incredible hospitality will accompany us every day and we will find that it is impossible not to fall in love with this country.

You will hear this and countless other stories in a new lecture about a 13,500 km journey by foot to a country that people avoid.

Who is Šebestián Bok?
Šebestián Bok is a 21-year-old traveler from a small village in western Bohemia. He has been hitchhiking and traveling low-cost since he was 14 years old. He loves adventure and activities of all kinds. During his travels, he visited the Balkans, Western and Southern Europe, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Iraqi Kurdistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Morocco, Oman and Iran. He travels mainly by hitchhiking, which he has covered over 95,000 km so far. In addition to traveling, he enjoys football, volleyball, floorball, playing the drums, making music, climbing and drinking something good with friends.
