The Association Orchesterwelt presents with its String Quartet an extraordinary concert with works by composers living in Austria.
The composers, whose artistic roots and musical training in Austria, Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran have been working in the Austrian cultural landscape for many years.
This concert offers a unique opportunity to experience the confluence of different cultural influences in one evening, who meet in today's Austrian musical life - and feel the emergence of a new, unique musical language.
An evening of encounters, diversity and contemporary sound art.
Maxim Seloujanov, String Quartet N13 “Deborah”. The string quartet “Deborah” was written in Rome in 2012. Deborah is a female first name of Hebrew origin and means "bee."
Deborah is one of the few women in the Bible who had a leadership role as a prophetess, judge and warrior. A bee is considered a symbol of defense, hard work, order and cleanliness.
Roozbeh Nafisi, String Quartet “Abuuataa” . The string quartet Abuuataa is part of the 14-part composition cycle Radifen. The quartet was written in 2020. It premiered in London in 2022 and has never been heard in Austria before. The piece is based on the Old Persian musical system Radif and focuses on the modal space Abuuataa. However, Nafisi has used a contemporary way of communicating this material. The harmonic structure of this piece, like most of Nafisi's pieces in recent years, uses a technique he developed called melodic (de-)composition. The focus is on modeling the acoustic properties of the instrument Santur and not on the vertical progression of the music.
