About event
Where does historical fact end and legend begin? Join the series of lectures and discussions Let's meet at the museum: Fact vs. fiction for senior citizens, and discover stories, personalities and discoveries with the experts of the Museum of the City of Bratislava that change our view of the past.
📍 Červený salon, Apponyi Palace (we will meet at the ticket office of the Old Town Hall)
🕙 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
🎟️ Discounted entrance fee: €2 online at mmb.sk or at the ticket office of the Old Town Hall town hall
☕ Small refreshments are part of the meetings
🔹Jana Jablonicka Zezulová's lecture will reveal the story of the diaries of Bratislava official Imrich Matyáš (1896 – 1974), who lived and worked in interwar and postwar Czechoslovakia. The story of Matyáš's diaries shows what exceptional value personal sources can have.
They capture not only Matyáš's personal life, but also the history of the emancipation of homosexual people in Czechoslovakia and give a voice to those whom society has long overlooked, stigmatized or punished.
You will learn about the history that appears in official documents only distortedly, indirectly or not at all - the history of people who were present for a long time, but pushed to the edge of public memory.
