Primary Progressive Affasyo (PPA) is a relatively rare disorder that affects a person's ability to talk and understand speech. Unlike common speech problems that can come suddenly, for example after a stroke, PPA develops slowly and gradually. This is due to the fact that certain areas of the brain that process the tongue begin to gradually weaken.
Imagine that you have a library full of words in your head and suddenly some books start to disappear or the text becomes unreadable. This is how PPA can work - the words you have known all your life, suddenly stop making sense, or you can't find them when you need to say.
