Cathy Berberian's Stroppsody (1966) work is the starting point for the exhibition curated by Arnau Horta, which can be visited currently in La Virreina Image Center and also these workshops aimed at families with children from 7 years old included in the La Mercè program. Inspired by the language of comics, Berberian's work radically explores his voice as an expressive vehicle. It articulates sounds, pantomic gestures, musical textures and an overflowing theatricality that incorporates the visual and objective universe of the genre, with graphically suggested drawings and actions.
Cristina Cubells and Alex Tentor have conceived the Strippsoding project in a playful and pedagogical key. They propose a collective creation workshop in which, through an expanded sound macropartitude and based on the elements proposed by Berberian, the connection of the piece is explored with the spontaneous gesture to stir it.
The result of these workshops will be part of a participatory sound installation that can be visited until September 28 in the Museum's temporary exhibition hall. September at 5:30 pm Arnau Horta will offer a guided visit to the Stroppsody de la Virreina exhibition (La Rambla, 99) aimed at the participants of the workshops and family audiences.
in collaboration with the Viceroyal Center of the Image and the ESMUC.
