About event
🕊 IN NOVEMBER '89 WE FIGHTED FOR FREEDOM. TODAY LET US SHOW THAT WE STAND FOR HER.
◽ Thirty-six years ago, thousands of people took to the streets to show their desire for freedom and democracy - the pillars that form the basis of a just society. November 1989 became a symbol of courage and togetherness.
◽ Just as students stood for the principles of freedom, truth and fairness then, we also want to carry their legacy and remind them of the importance of these values. We advocate the development of a democratic society, the protection of its principles and an active interest in things that concern us.
◽ We invite not only students, but everyone who is close to the message of the Day of the Fight for Freedom and Democracy to honor it with a symbolic march. The route starts from the original student route from 1989 as a tribute to those who, with their courage, opened the road to freedom that we live today.
The march ends at the Lower Gate, where a civic meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. NOVEMBER 17 - Freedom is not a given.
⏱ When: November 17, 2025 (Monday) at 16:00
📌Where: We will start in front of the Aula Maxima building of the Technical University in Košice (Letná 9) and continue through Komenského Street, Námestie Maratónu Mieru, Moyzesova and Hlavná Street.
