About event

[English below] Studio 9. The day with Ricarda Lang and Steffen Mau

Ricarda Lang is a politician from ALLIANCE 90/THE GREENS and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2021. With Omid Nouripour, she was federal chairwoman of her party for over two years, until November 2024. In the summer of 2025, Ricarda Lang completed her Bachelor of Laws at the Humboldt University and is now pursuing her master's degree through distance learning while working.

In October 2025, her joint book with Steffen Mau was published: "The Great Upheaval. A Conversation About Crises, Conflicts and Compromises."

Steffen Mau is a sociologist at the Humboldt University Berlin and the author of several non-fiction books. In his research, he deals intensively with the question: Do Germans live in a divided society?

In 2021, the professor of macrosociology received the Leibniz Prize of the German Research Foundation.

His books were much discussed and, above all, frequently cited: "Unequally United. Why the East Remains Different" and "Trigger Points. Consensus and Conflict in Contemporary Society" (together with Thomas Lux and Linus Westheuser).

Steffen Mau coined terms such as “polarization entrepreneur” or “change exhaustion”.
