🛡️ A castle that guarded the road to Poland and survived for centuries.
Imagine the year 1243. A stone castle rises on the steep Zniev hill, which will soon become a key point of defense for the entire region. Today we know it as Znievsky, but in the 14th century it was proudly called Turčiansky hrad.
In the last three years, however, great things have been happening at the castle! Thanks to the cooperation of the Slovak National Museum in Martin and the Považ Museum, it was possible to:
🧱 Preserve the damaged masonry of the lower palace.
🏺 Discover a number of finds that were hidden here for centuries.
🗺️ Better understand the fragmented architecture of the upper and lower castle.
