☘️ 8th concert of the summer part of the 7th year of the Chamber Music Festival in the House and Garden of the Albrecht House Domus & Hortus Artis 2026
🎵 While clarinet quartets of the 18th century usually consisted of one clarinet instrument in combination with three string instruments, modern clarinet quartets (which usually use four clarinets in B flat or a combination of clarinets in B flat, E flat and bass clarinets) have their origins in predecessors of brass bands from this time. The pioneer of these ensembles was the clarinet choir founded by Gustave Poncelet in Belgium at the end of the 19th century. In this period, the English bandleader James Waterson also began to compose technically demanding quartets for four clarinets in B flat. In the 1950s and 1960s, ensembles composed exclusively of clarinets experienced tremendous growth as the formal basis for the classical and academic chamber genre. Currently, quartets composed exclusively of clarinets and choirs of this type regularly present not only modern avant-garde works, but also transcriptions of classical titles.

Entrance to the concert and possible sale of unsold tickets in advance is possible 30 minutes before the concert.
Reservations are possible by phone: 0905 871 868. Reserved tickets must be picked up no later than 20 minutes before the start of the concert at the Albrecht House.
