DARKSIDE continues a triumphant tour that began last year, while now trio marked a masterful return to the stage, for a concept that will definitely have had an impact well beyond a decade.
In 2011, Clown & Sunset, the (late) label of Chilean producer Nicolas Jaar, released a record mysteriously signed DARKSIDE. Very quickly, the three down tempo pieces intrigue with their pink-Floydiesque influence, even in the name of the EP as a barely concealed wink. Two years later, the mass is said: the DARKSIDE project is in fact a collaboration between Jaar himself and the American multi-instrumentalist Dave Harrington, announced as ephemeral and embodied by an album that has now become legendary: PSYCHIC. The work skillfully mixes Harrington's psychedelic guitars with Jaar's organic vocals and rhythms, and the hypnosis is total live during the many concerts following its release.
Then in 2014, and as announced since its genesis, DARKSIDE is extinguished.
And yet, during the pandemic, while the planet is confined, the digital release of one of the group's concerts will serve as a preamble to a resurrection. The project is reborn from its ashes with SPIRAL. After several years of producing separately via their respective projects (Against All Logic, Dave Harrington Group, etc.), Jaar and Harrington found themselves in the summer of 2018 in a house isolated from the world, with the sole objective of composing a song per day. Six pieces which will therefore become the backbone of this second opus.
In 2023, DARKSIDE returned to the road, this time as a trio with percussionist Tlacael Esparza as a permanent member, for a sold-out tour, frequently stopping in residence for several days in a row at the same place, and thus developing a live performance that is never identical from one evening to the next, as was the case at the Nuits Sonores festival in Lyon, at the Trianon in Paris or at Koko in London last year. See you on November 3, 2024 at the Olympia for a new unique live experience.
