Individual exhibition "Supernaturalia" by the important Czech sculptor of the middle generation, Krištof Kintera (*1973), presents a selection of his work from the last decade. The curatorial concept focuses on one of the main lines of his artistic program, which emphasizes current topics connected with the global state of nature in the time of technological boom and consumerism. The presented works reflect the phenomenon of a damaged and modified landscape, revealing its fragility and disturbed balance. The work offers an ecologically tuned view of the current environmental crisis, while critically reflecting on the inaction of consumer societies, political systems and scientific progress in relation to ecological problems such as pollution or the destructive effects of industries. In his works, this reality is transformed into absurd metaphors, often tinged with subtle humor, but at the same time carrying an urgent message.
Krištof Kintera (1973) is a Czech artist who explores the boundaries of contemporary sculpture. Kinter's practice ranges from actions in public space, public installations to small kinetic installations. His ability to respond to the problems of the time is decisive, today the works Plumbers, Speakers, Consumers or the monument to the suicide of his own decision - Memento mori are already emblematic.
The artist's work has its roots in the 90s, a decade of wild capitalization in Central and Eastern Europe accompanied by aggressive advertising campaigns in public space. It was then that the Appliances series appeared, clearly illustrating the artist's ability to create iconic sculptures that deal with the materiality of objects and issues of ecology and consumption. The persuasiveness and urgency of Kinter's work also originates from his tireless dialogue with everyday life, from his persistent search for the relationship between the obvious and the hidden, and from revealing the absurd in seemingly self-evident situations. Kinter's work is characterized by communicativeness and specific energy; produces pieces that talk, smoke, move, bang and buzz.
Krištof Kintera is known not only as an artist, but also as a curator and member of the Hidden Creative Unit group.
