About event
From the age of forty you get in a next chapter. Through her book 'The second half of your life' (Oct. 2024, ed. Lebowski), Susan Smit invites you to abandon the resistance to aging. The second half of life you want to lead to a existence in which you release what no longer works for you and in which you bring the world what you have to offer deeply.
'The second half of your life' is about love, growth, holy anger, the female bond with nature and the mystical, silence and hearing, but above all coincidence with yourself. In short, about the power and wisdom of women and what they can mean for the world.
Susan Smit (1974) is a writer and columnist of the Happinez magazine. She debuted in 2001 with 'Witch' and now has various books to her name, such as the bestsellers 'Gisèle', 'Tropenbruid' and 'The Wisdom of the Witch'. With her novel 'De Witch van Limbricht' she was nominated for the NS Public Award. This spring she published 'Everything that moves', a historical novel about Isadora Duncan.
From October 2017 to June 2020, Smit could be seen every Friday as a book reviewer in 'five hours Live' with Daphne Bunskoek on RTL 4. She was jury chairman of the Japy spot reader for the book spot Voorlijsvoor Reading promotion.
Together with Manja Bedner and Bregje Hofstede, she founded the Stichting National Heksen Monument in 2023, of which she is chairman. The monument, to be delivered in 2025 or 2026, wants to contribute to the reparation of the victims of witch persecutions, to awareness and education around this theme to the cultural inheritance of those persecutions in the form of contemporary femicide, honorary revenge, women's rights that are under pressure, misogynia and sinner thinking.
