About event
Book presentation: Suzanne Pathé. Memories of a film pioneer. A youth in Paris and Berlin around 1900
The editors Sabine Lenk and Frank Kessler speak on site with Rolf Aurich (Deutsche Kinemathek).
In the immediate vicinity of the current location of the cinematheque, the Berlin branch of the Paris film company Pathé Frères was opened at the beginning of the 20th century - in the middle of the future film district of the capital. The niece of the media industrialists Charles and Émile Pathé had to take over the branch at a young age. In her now translated memoirs, Suzanne Pathé (1890–1982) tells of this early period of cinematography from an unusual perspective. The book launch will take place in the hall of the cinema library. Admission free.
